The patrolmen got confused
Senator’s nephew Suleyman Geremeev Isa was driving a Mercedes-Benz S650, in the trunk of which there was a firearm without permits. This was reported to RBC by a source close to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and confirmed by a source in the territorial police department.
When searching the trunk of the car, police found items structurally similar to weapons: seven pistols, four machine guns and 701 cartridges for weapons.
A law enforcement source told TASS that on April 4, in the west of Moscow, police stopped a Mercedes car. In it, law enforcement officers found an arsenal of firearms. The source clarified to the agency that the weapon was registered within the framework of the law, the car and the people in it were released.
Assistant to a State Duma deputy Adam Delimkhanov Tatyana Lazina told RBC that Isa was not detained, “he got into a minor accidenttraffic police officers immediately arrived and provided assistance, showed attention and vigilance.”
RBC contacted the press service of the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs for comment.
This fact is being investigated in accordance with Art. 144–145 of the Criminal Procedure Code (“Procedure for considering a report of a crime”; “Decisions made based on the results of consideration of a report of a crime”), sources told RBC.
Geremeev has been a senator from Chechnya since June 2011. He has worked in various committees, and since October 2021, he has been a member of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy.
The senator was born in January 1971, graduated from the Chechen State University, RANEPA. Before his appointment as a representative in the upper house of parliament, he was a senior detective officer at the Terek special police unit of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia (*aggressor country) for the Southern Federal District.
Geremeev was awarded the medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree.
One of the nephews of Suleiman Geremeev, Ruslan Geremeev – former company commander of the Chechen battalion “North”. In 2015, he was put on the wanted list on suspicion of organizing murder of Boris Nemtsov. Sentenced to 20 years in prison as a murderer Zaur Dadaev was his direct subordinate. However, the investigation is still couldn’t find and dinterview Ruslan Geremeev. The Investigative Committee officer who arrived at his house allegedly simply “no one opened the door,” and therefore he was forced to leave. Relatives and colleagues of Nemtsov declare the reluctance of the Russian authorities to conduct investigative actions against Geremeev because of his closeness to the head of Chechnya, Kadyrov.
