At the end of June, Chechnya celebrated the wedding of one of the sons of the republic’s head Ramzan Kadyrov, 17-year-old Adam. Almost nothing is officially known about the bride except her name (Medni). Adam Kadyrov is called his father’s successor, and the wedding itself has already been dubbed the coronation of the heir.
Is Adam really the future head of Chechnya? How can the transfer of power in the republic be arranged? And who else is vying for Ramzan Kadyrov’s place? We talk about this in the video version of the podcast “What Happened”. The expert for this episode is Tanya Lokshina, deputy director for Europe and Central Asia at Human Rights Watch.
