Investigators have completed the investigation of a criminal case against 18 members of the criminal community led by Oleg Medvedev (Shishkanov).

This was reported to the Moscow City News Agency by the press service of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia.

“The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has completed the investigation of a criminal case against 18 members of the criminal community, which was headed by Oleg Medvedev (before changing his surname – Shishkanov). Among the participants of this community are Eduard Kharkov, Dmitry Gusev, Yuri Ofitserov, Dmitry Baryshnikov, Dmitry Khlamkin and others. Depending on the role of each, they are charged with a number of grave and especially grave crimes, including banditry, murder, extortion, bodily harm, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, organization and participation in a criminal community, occupying a higher position in the criminal hierarchy, and others (Art. 105, 111, 163, 167, 209, 210, 210.1, 222, 228, 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation),” the press service said.

According to investigators, Medvedev and his henchmen committed the murder of Tatyana Sidorova, the general director of CJSC Plemzavod Ramenskoye, a deputy of the local government, and three members of her family, who went missing in 2012. At the same time, during the inspection of their house, traces were found indicating the forcible capture and probable murder of the victims. During the investigation, the Investigative Committee found that after the deputy’s disappearance, vast land plots of the breeding farm were donated to a resident of Ramenskoye, who was directly related to Medvedev.

“With the participation of police units and the FSB of Russia, Medvedev was detained. Subsequently, together with the operational officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB in the territories of the Moscow, Tver, Pskov, Ryazan regions and in Kamchatka, investigators of the Russian Investigative Committee detained other defendants in the criminal case. As a result of large-scale search work, the bodies of the missing Sidorova and members of her family were also found,” the department explained.

It was also established by the investigation that in order to finance Medvedev’s organized crime group, its members extorted money from Ramensky entrepreneurs, killed competitors in the field of natural resources extraction, attacked citizens who refused to fulfill the criminal demands of Medvedev and his henchmen, and also set fire to their property.

“The criminal case has been sent to the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation to resolve the issue of jurisdiction. The investigation of the criminal case against other accomplices of Medvedev, who fled abroad, continues,” the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation noted.

According to media reports, Oleg Medvedev in the criminal environment was known by the nickname Shishkan and had the informal status of a thief in law, meaning the highest position in the criminal hierarchy. (Agency Moscow, 08/30/2022)
