Aleksey Korochkin was sentenced to 20 years in a strict regime colony in 2005. According to investigators, he attacked people in a Chelyabinsk park, raped and killed. At the same time, the murder weapon – a pistol – was never found then.

However, in April 2023, the weapon used to kill the victims was found in the house deceased from the cancer of a former police officer. After this discovery, the Investigative Committee resumed the investigation. It is possible that new evidence will point to Korochkin’s innocence.
