On the night of November 17, three robbers hacked into the security system of the villa of the founder of Tinkoff Bank Oleg Tinkov in Forte dei Marmi in Tuscany, according to local media. The thieves opened two safes and took out jewelry, watches and other items worth several hundred thousand euros. Tinkov himself and his family were in Mexico at that time.
On the night of November 17, three robbers robbed Oleg Tinkov’s villa in the resort town of Forte dei Marmi in Tuscany. The amount of damage from the theft could amount to several hundred thousand euros, according to Adnkronos and Il Messagero. According to them, from the villa, where the criminals broke into two safes, they took out jewelry, watches and other things.
As Adnkronos points outthe theft was discovered by the caretaker on the morning of November 17, the carabinieri began an investigation. Il Messagero assessed the damage from theft in an amount exceeding several hundred thousand euros. The publications reported that at the time of entering the villa, it was empty – the family of the founder of Tinkoff Bank was on vacation in Mexico. A day earlier, on November 16, unknown people robbed another villa in Forte dei Marmi, writes Adnkronos: they broke into a safe and stole jewelry and other luxury items.
According to the publication, this villa belongs to a Russian businessman, but was rented by a married couple of financiers from Ukraine. The publication notes that the tenants heard the noise and frightened off the robbers. According to records from video surveillance cameras in the villas, which were at the disposal of the police, there were three criminals in both incidents, they carried away the stolen goods in large black bags.
The Tinkov family in Forte dei Marmi has a four-story guest palazzo from 1930. This is part of the La Datcha project, a series of private houses in different parts of the world that Tinkov rents out to wealthy tourists. In addition to the Italian building, there are three more houses in the Tinkov collection: two in France (in Courchevel and Val Thorens) and one in Mexico (Cabo San Lucas), wrote Forbes.
The house in Forte dei Marmi has been welcoming guests since 2018. According to the director of marketing and sales of La Datcha and the billionaire’s daughter Dasha Tinkova, the season in Forte dei Marmi opens in May and closes at the end of September. The house is rented for at least a week, the rental price starts from €69,000. In May, Tinkov said that he had sold the Russian business La Datcha “at the market price”, which in Russia included an unfinished object in Kamchatka, a house in Astrakhan and other objects.
In April, Tinkov published a post criticizing the Russian “special operation” * in Ukraine on Instagram (owned by Meta, which is recognized in Russia as an extremist organization, its activities are prohibited). Shortly thereafter, the Tinkov family trust sold a stake in the bank to the billionaire’s Interros company. Vladimir Potanin and stated that he “had nothing left in Russia”. On October 31, the businessman announced his renunciation of Russian citizenship. In early November, Forbes estimated Tinkov’s fortune at $860 million. More than a quarter of this amount comes from the proceeds from the sale of a 35.1% stake in TCS Group to Interros.
