Grain scheme: the case of the theft of 70 million was brought to court

Seven people will be tried in the theft of almost 70 million hryvnia from grain procurement enterprises.

The heads of three state grain procurement enterprises organized a scheme for creating artificial debt of state-owned companies. As a result, they suffered losses of almost 70 million hryvnia. This was reported by the press service of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau.
An indictment was sent to the court against seven people on charges of stealing almost 50 million UAH of budget funds and creating artificial debt of state-owned companies, causing another 20 million UAH of losses when transferring ownership of a state-owned enterprise’s trademark at a reduced cost.
Among the accused are former directors of state grain procurement enterprises and employees of private companies.
It was found that in 2011-2017. The heads of three state grain procurement enterprises, together with employees of private companies, organized a scheme for creating artificial debt of state-owned companies.
Funds or rights of claim obtained illegally were sent through a complex chain of transfers and assignments to companies controlled by them, including abroad. The investigation established six episodes of the criminal scheme.
As part of the pre-trial investigation, it turned out that these persons deprived a state-owned enterprise of a trademark at a reduced cost, although its real value, according to the results of examinations, amounted to 20 million UAH.
“In general, state-owned enterprises suffered losses amounting to almost UAH 70 million. However, thanks to the timely intervention of law enforcement agencies, it was possible to prevent damage of more than 80 million UAH,” the report says.
Currently, five suspects are hiding from the investigation. They are put on the international wanted list.
