Go through the nine circles of hell, or Work at the Verninskoye Pole
About how the authorities bathe in gold (literally and figuratively), wipe their feet on employees and brush aside labor legislation, employees of Polyus Verninskoye, tired of putting up with the lawlessness of the corporation, tell.
The author’s spelling and punctuation have been preserved.
“With a strong desire to understand that something inadequate awaits us, it was possible even when looking for a vacancy, when Polyus had hidden wages on every site from hh.ru to Avito. Even the approximate range was not indicated. You send a questionnaire for good luck, and during the interview you are evasively told that the payment will be “decent”. But there is no choice, and you go, because you need a job, and in the Irkutsk region as a whole there is no big choice with my specialization, ”says a former employee of Polyus Verninskoye.
He was “lucky” to work there for two and a half years – for a company where the “turnover” of the middle management has long become an integral part of the work process, the period is “impressive”.
“Work on a rotational basis, two months “there” and a month at home. Vacations are considered to be in this unfortunate month of the inter-watch, it is virtually impossible to get something from above. Although at the interview they say that they will give bonuses and additional days for rest for overtime. What is also important is that those two months that you spend at the mine are only paid on weekdays, even if Saturday and Sunday have to be finalized, they are never paid.”
The Labor Code of the Russian Federation (let alone moral standards) is resting. As you can see, the management of Polyus has not heard about Article 153 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, where it is written in black and white that the work of an employee on a weekend or holiday must be paid at double the rate. There are no exceptions for shift workers in the legislation.
“The pay is stable, but not enough. And most importantly, for some reason, salaries are constantly decreasing. Bonuses for overfulfillment of the plan are paid, but, by some inexplicable logic, they pay much more to the management personnel, and to us – “the average temperature in the hospital.” That is, we are there on our hump pulling and dragging, and as soon as we hint that we need to rest, the authorities arrange a scolding. I almost got fired once when I started to resent. Moreover, after that, they directly refused to sign my time sheets, crossed out several days that were “holidays”, although we worked.”
More than one employee of the Polyus Verninskoye enterprise faced this problem. At the first request, the search engine gives out a whole stack of negative comments from former employees of the enterprise, the main complaint of which is the rudeness of the management and the refusal to sign documents on processing.
A question for connoisseurs: when will the labor inspectorate come to Polyus?
It is worth noting that all of the above problems are far from one “year old”.
The constant conveyor belt of dissatisfied Polyus employees, fleeing from the enterprise like the plague, is gaining mass every year. Unreasonable reduction of wages, violation of the conditions of accommodation on the territory of mines, merciless overtime and insults from the management are constant companions of any employee of Polyus. But for some reason they are not warned about them when signing an employment contract.
Therefore, it is not at all surprising that all sites for posting vacancies are literally strewn with “generous” offers from Polyus, for which applicants are less and less often found. The next step towards solving the serious shortage of personnel on the part of Polyus was made in December last year, when a cooperation agreement was signed between the corporation and the Irkutsk Polytechnic University. The news is clearly not good for the entire student community. And the only alternative for Polyus, which is only able to recruit and retain employees through sheer fraud and outright lies in interviews.
