Laboratory verification of several samples of condensed milk is frankly upsetting. Experts found not only preservatives and stabilizers in jars of treats, but also microbes, remains of animal feed, wool and hay.
Condensed milk is well known to everyone since childhood. And now on the shelves of supermarkets you can see a huge number of a wide variety of jars with this delicacy. True, now, when trying condensed milk, for some reason it seems that the taste is not the same, and the consistency was different before. Maybe it really seems? Or have the manufacturers changed the recipes and save in every possible way on the production of goodies? Unfortunately, this product can present unpleasant surprises.
In order to find out how tasty, high-quality and safe condensed milk is sold in stores, reporters from the NashPotrebNadzor program on the NTV channel, together with experts from Roskachestvo, decided to conduct an appropriate check. For this purpose, condensed milk of seven well-known brands was purchased in an ordinary supermarket: “Rogachev”, “Vologda Dairy Products”, “Milk Union”, “Vkusvill”, “Favorite Milk”, “Glavproduct” And “Lubinsky”.
Savings don’t belong here
For one can of condensed milk, manufacturers need two liters of milk. Not cheap in the current situation. And sometimes, apparently, the desire to save money takes over. How to do it? Very simple – add vegetable fat to the product. Judging by the data of laboratory studies, this is exactly what they did at the Glavprodukt plant.
As the expert of Roskachestvo explained Natalia Filatova, the check revealed phytosterols in this condensed milk – direct evidence that milk fat was partially replaced with vegetable fat. Thus, she stressed, in this case we are talking about the deception of the manufacturer, and the product is a fake.
Was liquid – became thick
In order for the surrogate not to pretend to be a liquid consistency, stabilizers were added to it to thicken it. And, of course, it was found in a jar of Glavprodukt condensed milk.
Taken and preserved
What should not be in condensed milk is preservatives. Long shelf life is provided by sugar and sterilization. In the event that the product does contain artificial expiration date extenders, but it is possible that this may indicate a lack of confidence in the quality of the milk used or the hygiene observed in the enterprise.
Sadly, experts found preservatives in all but one of the cans. They were not only in condensed milk from the brand “Lubimoe Moloko”. It should be noted here that the detected preservatives are not harmful to health. However, it is important to remember that these acids should not be in the correct condensed milk.
Canned microbes
Oddly enough, the presence of preservatives did not help some samples pass the safety test. Dangerous microbes were found in the condensed milk of two brands at once – “Milk Union” and “Lubimoe Moloko”.
Not for the squeamish
Another unpleasant discovery awaited experts in the condensed surrogate “Glavprodukt”, as well as in the “Milk Union” bank. Microparticles of wool, hay and animal feed were found here.
On the basis of the audit, the reporters of the NashPotrebNadzor program did not recommend any of the examined samples for consumption. As it turned out, condensed milk of seven brands does not meet all the requirements.
