According to Interfax-Ukraine, ex-Minister of Revenue and Duties Alexander Klimenko won the case in the Pechersky District Court of Kiev. According to the court decision, the head of the State Fiscal Service (SFS) Igor Bilous and a number of Ukrainian media must refute certain statements about Alexander Klimenko. The court made the corresponding decision on January 26, 2015.
The judge in this case, Sergei Vovk, granted A. Klimenko’s claim for protection of honor, dignity, business reputation and refutation of false information in three interviews published in May, July and September 2014. In particular, we are talking about the phrases “for years he destroyed customs as such” and “… corruption, which he defeated in his own way.” The court also ordered Igor Bilous, the State Fiscal Service and three media outlets to pay 48.72 UAH of court fees to the plaintiff. An appeal against the decision of the Pechersk Court can be filed within 10 days from the date of its announcement, the resolution of the Pechersk Court says.
Let us recall that on February 27, 2014, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Klymenko from the post of minister, and the department he headed was decided to be liquidated.
At the end of February 2014, Alexander Klimenko and his family left the territory of Ukraine. On April 29, a notice of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 2 of Art. 364 (abuse of power or official position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
May 31, 2014 – The SBU put Klimenko on the wanted list. It was established that Klimenko, abusing his official position, in prior agreement with other persons of the Ministry of Revenue, organized so-called “software” enterprises in the Odessa, Kyiv, Donetsk and Kharkov regions, the purpose of which was to provide services for customs clearance of goods on the territory of Ukraine at a significantly reduced customs value . In addition, during the pre-trial investigation it was established that during 2012-2013. the ex-minister organized the functioning of a tax evasion scheme in the country by enterprises in the real sector of the economy. As a result of the illegal activities of individual enterprises and Klymenko himself, the budget of Ukraine suffered damage amounting to more than UAH 6 billion.
