Dmitry Muryshov

The Basmanny District Court of Moscow has arrested Dmitry Muryshov, head of the Anti-Corruption Department of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, in a case of taking a bribe, the press service of the court told RBC.

“On December 9, 2022, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow granted the petition of D.Yu. on the choice of a preventive measure in the form of detention against the head of the anti-corruption department of the Federal Customs Service of Russia

He is charged with Part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code (receiving a bribe on an especially large scale), part 3 of the same article (receiving a bribe by an official for illegal actions (inaction)), as well as part 3 of Art. 30 and part 6 of Art. 290.

“Kommersant”, 12/10/2022, “The fighter against corruption was taken under the Constitution”: On the International Anti-Corruption Day, employees of the “M” department of the FSB and the TFR detained the main fighter against corruption of the FCS, Major General Dmitry Muryshov. According to investigators, the general received bribes worth several tens of millions of rubles through intermediary subordinates from “unidentified participants in foreign economic activity.”

Testimony about the involvement of the head of the Anti-Corruption Department of the Federal Customs Service Muryshov in bribery was given by two of his former subordinates. According to them, the general received three bribes on an especially large scale (part 6 of article 290 of the Criminal Code) and counted on another illegal reward (art. 30, part 6 of article 290 of the Criminal Code). For some reason, the customs officers who were charged with mediation in bribery (Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code) did not name the bribe givers. As a result, in the criminal case, which, according to the materials of the FSB, was opened in the main investigative department of the TFR, it was said about receiving money from “unidentified participants in foreign economic activity, specializing in the import of goods into Russia.”

Millions, according to investigators, were paid to the general “for general patronage, expressed in facilitating the movement of goods across the customs border.” Events developed rapidly – on December 8, the investigator opened a case, and the very next day, his defendants were detained. True, unlike General Muryshov, they did not take them into custody.
