Extremist organization funded by poker tournaments

Employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Republic of Adygea, together with police officers and employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Republic of Adygea, stopped the activities of an extremist organization.

According to the investigation, the attacker, occupying the highest position in the criminal hierarchy, was serving his sentence in a correctional colony in Adygea. There he organized and headed a cell of the international public movement “Prisoner Criminal Unity”, whose activities were recognized as extremist and banned on the territory of the Russian Federation.

To finance it, he held poker tournaments among the convicts. Income from gambling was used to finance the operation of the cell. Game sets, notebooks with records of the money received after gambling were seized from the prisoners during the search.

A number of criminal cases have been initiated on the fact of criminal activity against the thief in law and the players. The investigation continues, the press service of the Investigative Committee of the RF Investigative Committee for the Republic of Adygea reports.
