The “mass exodus” of Moscow head offices to Krasnoyarsk started with hydropower. The RusHydro company transports its top managers to the Siberian region.
Moreover, moving such a large business structure to such a considerable distance is a precedent for the whole country. The structures of RusHydro were preparing for the move for a year: they chose a place for an office and housing.
Let’s say right away: the conditions for moving are royal. It can be seen that Siberia in the minds of the inhabitants of central Russia still seems to be something deaf and giving away a reference. Therefore, they decided to lure workers here on a grand scale, without stinting on profitable offers.
According to Viktor Khmarin, General Director of the company, moving to Krasnoyarsk is an instruction from the Board of Directors: “Moscow is a port of five seas, but there is not a single RusHydro hydro or thermal power plant here. Krasnoyarsk is actually the center of Russia, with approximately the same number of time zones to the left and to the right, which is important for us.”
Let’s move on to the most interesting thing – the conditions that will be provided to RusHydro employees when moving from Moscow to Krasnoyarsk. Each employee with his family will have at his disposal, quote Khmarin, an apartment in the best area of the city on the banks of the Yenisei, in a business-level building and with an underground parking space. After seven years of work, the service housing will become the property. Again, a quote: a corporate kindergarten and school will be built for the children of the company’s employees – the plans are to make them the best in the country, with international specialists. In addition, the relocated employees are waiting for an increase in income – including northern allowances. The move will not start right now, but from 2024.
It is interesting how the Krasnoyarsk construction company Sibiryak became an unexpected beneficiary of the exodus of hydropower from Moscow.
For the move, RusHydro chose the building of the failed hotel on Theater Square. This building has a scandalous reputation as a long-term construction project, which construction magnate Vladimir Egorov has been trying to complete for many years. The planned purpose of the building all this time remained a mystery: either a five-star hotel, or a hotel complex with office space and apartments. Stuck right next to the Opera and Ballet Theatre, the long-term construction on Theater Square has become an unspoken and obvious symbol of the city’s compact development. Well, also a reminder that friendship with the governor serves as an indulgence to build like an artist: as I see and want. And where I want.
And now the long-term construction is buying out RusHydro for its head office. Surely “Sibiryak” is happy with such an outcome (in the literal and figurative sense), because the construction was rather delayed – and the hope that the building would be completed dried up year after year. The stand was moved more than once – in particular, it was slowed down by the Sibiryak during the construction of facilities for the Universiade. The deal for the purchase and sale of long-term construction should be closed by June 2022. The amount is not disclosed.
I must say, the construction bigwig Egorov turned out to be in the black in every respect. The developer’s gains were not limited to the purchase of long-term construction by RusHydro’s structures. It is known that apartments for their hydropower employees will be bought in the new residential area “Novoostrovsky” on the territory of the former combine harvester plant – this is the building of “Sibiryak”.
It is also worth remembering that the business district of Krasnoyarsk City, where, according to the idea of the regional authorities, industrialists will move en masse, is also being built on the site of the combine plant where Sibiryak was deployed.
