Elektrotyazhmash case: VAKS appeal completed preparation

The Court of Appeal has completed preparations for consideration of the complaint against the verdict by which four people were convicted.

The Appeals Chamber of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court has completed preparations for considering an appeal against the verdict, which sentenced former officials of the state-owned enterprise Electrotyazhmash Plant to prison.

This is discussed in the decision of the AP VAKS dated February 1, reports “Word and deed“.

Complete the preparation and schedule the consideration of the proceedings on appeals of the defenders of the accused and the prosecutor’s petition to renew the time limit for appealing the appeal against the verdict of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court dated November 22, 2022 in criminal proceedings No. :30 February 15th. If it is impossible to consider criminal proceedings on February 15, 2023, schedule a court session on February 21, 2023 at 09:30“, the decision says.

As you know, VAKS announced guilty verdict in the case of the plant.

Recall that in this case, NABU and SAP reported about suspicion two deputy directors of the plant Alexander Gordiy and Nikolay Korniychuk. In addition to them, law enforcement agencies reported suspicion to the head of the department of the Electrotyazhmash plant, Oleg Bogdanov; Oksana Evdokimova, director of the Czech company Ksanko sro, and the beneficiary of this company, Andrey Evdokimova’s husband. As the investigation established, in 2017, plant officials, through a company controlled by them, registered in Prague (Czech Republic), organized the sale of spare parts to a company in the real sector of the economy (Republic of Lithuania). Those spare parts that Electrotyazhmash sold to the Czech company for 600,300 euros were resold by the latter to a Lithuanian company for almost twice as much – 1.22 million euros. As a result, Electrotyazhmash received UAH 13.7 million, which was confirmed by expert examinations.
