This year, the residents of Irkutsk are on the verge of an attraction of unprecedented generosity – almost the majority of the city council of Irkutsk vying with each other offers their “pickles”, taking part in the race to the parliamentary Olympus.
One problem: under a bright candy wrapper often hides not a chocolate candy at all.
The upcoming elections to the regional parliament threaten to turn into severe stagnation for the vast majority of the region’s territories. And if in the absolute superiority of cities and regions, the experienced names of deputies-idols become heralds of this black yoke, then the city of Irkutsk, now torn into unequal parts between as many as five parliamentary districts, is infected with an even more terrible plague. Its name is the Duma of Irkutsk, which almost completely went to conquer the parliamentary Olympus.
But who is waiting for them there, pray tell?
The fact that the city deputies announced to the parliament “we are going to attack you”, Babr said back in February. Then careful shuffling towards the Gray House was betrayed by many deputies. Now that the trend has officially taken shape with the lists of United Russia for the primaries, there is no doubt: the Duma will be orphaned, if not this year, then next year.

The next elections to the Irkutsk Duma, which will be held next year in 2024, are just around the corner. And will the voters believe the political guest performers, who without a twinge of conscience are ready to leave them for the sake of a new, brighter “medal” – the mandate of the Legislative Assembly?
“He left, but promised to return” – a losing strategy for a deputy. And games in the party locomotives, actively launched by United Russia, can hit the deputies themselves, who rushed into the embrasure of the parliamentary campaign.
