Kucherenko’s death was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science. Representatives of the department said that the plane on which the official was returning from Cuba was urgently landed in Mineralnye Vody and they tried to save the man.

Pyotr Kucherenko will be buried on Wednesday, May 24. From 11:00 to 12:00 a memorial service will be held at the Epiphany Cathedral in Yelokhovo. The farewell ceremony and burial at the Troekurovsky cemetery will take place from 13:00 to 15:00. The location of the memorial service, which will begin at 4:00 pm, is being specified.
“According to preliminary information, everything will be held behind closed doors,” said Mikhail Shitikov, spokesman for the Ritual State Budgetary Institution.

The son of Peter Kucherenko and Diana Gurtskaya, 15-year-old Konstantin, wrote a post dedicated to his father and thanked everyone for their support.

What is known about Peter Kucherenko
Petr Kucherenko was 46 years old. He was born on May 3, 1977 in the town of Dudinka in the Taimyr (Dolgano-Nenets) Autonomous District of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. In 2001 he graduated from the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia with a degree in jurisprudence.
He began his political career in the early 90s – then he worked as an assistant to deputies of the State Duma and members of the Federation Council. He also worked as an assistant to the deputy from St. Petersburg Galina Starovoitova. “He was a good man, smart, pleasant, very purposeful. Kucherenko became Deputy Head of the Ministry of Education and Science in March 2020, and a year later he was appointed Secretary of State.
From 2001 to 2006, he headed a number of public structures, was involved in public-state partnership projects in the social and educational spheres. Then he worked as a lawyer in the Moscow Regional Bar Association and taught at the Department of Constitutional and Municipal Law at the People’s Friendship University of Russia.
In 2012, he headed the apparatus of the committee on constitutional legislation, legal and judicial issues, the development of civil society in the Federation Council, and from 2014 to 2020 he headed the apparatus of the committee on constitutional legislation and state building.
According to Fontanka’s interlocutors, Kucherenko worked on the main bills tightening Russian legislation, which were prepared by Andrey Klishas’ committee during this period. In 2014, he also worked on a bill giving the president the right to send troops to Ukraine.
On September 21, 2005, Pyotr Kucherenko married singer Diana Gurtskaya. Together with his wife, he created a fund for helping blind children “At the call of the heart.” In 2007, the couple had a son, Konstantin.
