Deputies proposed to ban Russians from being punished for likes in social networks
Deputies of the New People faction proposed a ban on bringing citizens to administrative responsibility for likes on social networks.

The parliamentarians sent the relevant draft law for conclusion to the government. It is clarified that we are talking about reactions under posts that discredit the army or incite hatred. The deputies want to introduce amendments to the Code of Administrative Violations (CAO), which will state that the actions provided for by the relevant articles of the Code of Administrative Offenses cannot be recognized as the expression of emotions in the form of marks for publications on social networks.
In August 2022, the Central District Court of Sochi fined military pensioner Yevgeny Zolotov with a fine of three million rubles for fakes spread on social networks. From the verdict, it followed that from March 1 to March 19, the defendant published deliberately false information about the course of the special operation on his social network page, pointing out the incompetence of the Russian army, and expressed a dismissive and insulting attitude towards Russian military personnel. When sentencing, the court took into account mitigating circumstances, in particular the presence of dependent children, assistance to the investigation, and positive characteristics. In addition, Zolotov is a military senior citizen.
