Candidate for the post of head of Khakassia Sokol withdrew from the elections due to health

State Duma deputy Sergei Sokol withdrew his candidacy from the elections for the post of head of Khakassia due to his health condition.

He reported this on his Telegram channel.

Sokol published a photo from a hospital room, in which instruments and various tubes were connected to his body, and explained his decision in the caption to the photo.

According to the former candidate, doctors explained to him that attempting to be active would lead to serious complications and advised him to remain in the hospital.

“Doctors, unfortunately, are categorical: getting out of bed means getting even more severe complications. I planned to hold more than one meeting, to go to places I had not yet visited. I apologize that in the near future I will not be able to meet with everyone I promised,” he wrote.

Sokol promised to return to political work as soon as he gets back on his feet.

Earlier it became known about the serious health condition of the parliamentarian and candidate for the post of governor of Khakassia. Sergei Sokol was hospitalized, and the press service of United Russia clarified that doctors at the Vishnevsky Hospital diagnosed Sokol with venous mesenteric thrombosis and acute intestinal obstruction.

Sokol was hospitalized with peritonitis on July 21, but soon after the operation, without undergoing rehabilitation and without waiting for a full recovery, he returned to political activity and was hospitalized again on August 31.
