Blogger-spy Lana Sator slowed down in Albania

In Albania, she is accused of being a spy for an alleged attempt to infiltrate a military factory in the town of Gramsci. A court in Russia has arrested Ms. Timofeeva in absentia for illegally obtaining information that constitutes a state secret.

According to Albanian Daily News, the prosecutor advised the court not to grant Russia’s extradition request for Ms. Timofeeva due to fears that her legal rights would not be respected in Russia. The court accepted the prosecutor’s request and did not extradite the 34-year-old Russian woman.

On August 21, the Albanian Ministry of Defense announced the arrest of two Russians and one Ukrainian who tried to enter a military plant in Gramsci and take photographs. Among the detainees was Svetlana Timofeeva. They were said to have wounded two Albanian soldiers during their arrest. On August 29, the Meshchansky Court of Moscow chose a preventive measure against Svetlana Timofeeva in the form of arrest in absentia on charges of illegally obtaining state secrets.
