On Tuesday, September 26, the fate of two residents of the region was decided – Dmitry Protasov and Artem Doyarenko, who were involved in blackmailing the wife of the governor of Stavropol Natalya Vladimirova. The men, according to investigators, demanded 6 million rubles from the wife of the head of the region as a payoff. If there was no money, they threatened to leak the video from Vladimir Vladimirovengaged in self-satisfaction. We have collected the entire chronology of the high-profile case in one material.
In 2019, two residents of Stavropol – blogger Dmitry Protasov and businessman Artem Doyarenko – according to investigators, could blackmail the wife of the governor of Stavropol Vladimirov with an intimate video on the social network Instagram, which was banned in the Russian Federation at the time of publication. They allegedly used a neural network to create footage of the region’s top official engaging in self-satisfaction. For silence and non-publicity in social networks and the media, Protasov and Doyarenko demanded 6 million rubles.
Two years later, the head of Stavropol told about this story during one of their direct lines. Vladimir Vladimirov noted that he was blackmailed with intimate footage before the 2019 elections.
— In 2019, they sent it to me and said that they would distribute it, it came to all the official accounts of my government, and it was very interesting. You know, this technology where they stretch your face onto any figure. It was very similar, I was even surprised myself… You know, what a shame – these people didn’t offer me this video, but posted it on Instagram (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation after Meta was declared extremist, editor’s note) to my wife and they also extorted money from her . Since my wife is an understanding person, the extortion quickly ended. Sorry, I’m not speaking in a literary manner, but the topic is not good. There will be a lot of crap. The choice is ours, I am confident in myself, but I stopped reacting to this. There are a lot of problems, if only I hadn’t reacted to my video,” the governor said during the broadcast in 2021.
Note that the video is worth a multi-million dollar amount. offered and ex-editor of “Notebook Stavropol” Irina Bentyaeva. The “seller” in the correspondence claimed that he had videos in which the head of the Stavropol region allegedly “masturbated on Skype with his mistress.”
For one video, an unknown person offered 2 million rubles in cryptocurrency and announced an “auction” among the media.
But let’s get back to now. On the evening of September 26, 2023, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Stavropol sentenced the persons who allegedly organized the blackmail of the wife of the head of the region – Dmitry Protasov and Artem Doyarenko. The investigation believes that they were involved in the production of a fake video and extortion of six million rubles.
Dmitry Protasov, one of the defendants in the case, is considered the mastermind behind the blackmail. According to the investigation, it was he who manipulated Artem Doyarenko, namely, sent texts for messages to be sent, etc. Protasov indicated at the meeting that a linguistic examination had not been appointed in his case, which could prove the author of the correspondence with Natalya Vladimirova. The Telegram channels also indicate that both Protasov and Doyarenko could have been subjected to pressure, including torture and physical violence. Both defendants deny guilt.
“I am aware of who is the customer and perpetrator of my criminal crime. Therefore, I do not rule out that my days will end in a pre-trial detention center or in a colony. Even despite my excellent health for my 52 years – with a height of 178, my weight is now 80.5 kg. Blood pressure 120/80 pulse 56 beats per second. I don’t rule out that they might break me mentally. I am not going to voluntarily go to the Northern Military District. Although he has some skills in military affairs, since he served in the 224 Training Center of the Airborne Forces, 242 Training Center of the Airborne Forces, as well as in the 37 DShB and 39 DShB, including in reconnaissance units. I made parachute jumps from MI-8 and Mi-6 helicopters, AN-2 and Il-76 aircraft,” Dmitry Protasov wrote on his channel.
A source from the Notepad editorial office, familiar with the situation, noted that on September 26, 2023, both defendants were found guilty of extortion on a particularly large scale. Dmitry Protasov was sentenced to 8 years in prison, and Artem Doyarenko was sentenced to 7 years in a maximum security colony.
Kommersant.Ru, 09/27/2023, “Blackmail lasted 8 years”: In early September, Dmitry Protasov posted a post on social networks in which he complained that he was “illegally and groundlessly subjected to criminal prosecution.” The blogger stated that a criminal case should have been opened against law enforcement officers and civilian “false witnesses”; that during the search, a flash drive was allegedly planted on him, which later became evidence, and before that he was beaten. Dmitry Protasov also stated that the court did not order a linguistic examination, and all the charges against him are based on the testimony of a person whom he “saw briefly 12 years ago” and who refused them in court.
Unlike Artem Doyarenko, who was kept in custody, Dmitry Protasov was under recognizance not to leave during the entire investigation. […] Defenders, in turn, noted that the investigation did not establish who exactly was the author of the scandalous video and who was the owner of the crypto-wallet where the extortionists demanded to transfer the cryptocurrency. — Insert K.ru
