Biden found a new batch of secret documents. This time in the closet of his personal garage.
Several documents of different categories of secrecy were found in the storage room at the garage in the house of US President Joe Biden in Wilmington (Delaware) and in the next room.
They should not have been there: at the end of the term of the Obama-Biden administration, when these papers were written, they were required to be archived.
This is reported by the Air Force with reference to the words of the President’s lawyer Richard Sober.
Sober said several classified Obama administration documents were found among personal and political papers stored in a garage closet. Also, one page was found in the next room. The lawyer did not say anything about the content of the documents.
Biden’s employees immediately notified the Department of Justice about the find and handed over all the papers to him. Biden’s team also checked another presidential home in Rehoboth Beach, also in Delaware, Sober said, but no classified material was found there.
Biden, who was holding a press conference at the White House on a different occasion, commented on the situation. He said that on his instructions, his lawyers checked all the premises that he used in 2017-2021, when he did not hold public office, and this check has just ended. According to him, the documents were in his personal library and in a locked garage, “and not on the street.”
“People know I take classified material seriously,” Biden said.
A few days ago it became known that back in November, Biden’s lawyers discovered secret documents in his office closet at the Penn-Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington, which the current head of state used after leaving the post of vice president.
Republicans in Congress said they would investigate the discovery of the first batch of classified papers. Republican congressman Paul Gosar told the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.
“Joe Biden stole classified documents and secretly hid them in his office when he was vice president, but suddenly the Democrats didn’t care. Careless possession of classified documents is a criminal offense that is punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years,” Gosar recalled.
As the Congressman assured, Republican lawmakers “will investigate and make sure Biden is held accountable for his crimes.”
Meanwhile, US Attorney General Merrick Garland announced the appointment of former U.S. Attorney Robert Hoer as special counsel to investigate US President Joe Biden’s mishandling of classified documents.
“Earlier today, I signed an order appointing Robert Hoer as Special Counsel for the case I just mentioned. The document authorizes him to investigate whether any person or entity has violated the law in connection with this case. The Special Counsel will not be under the day-to-day control of any – or an official of the Department, but he must comply with the rules, procedures and principles of the Department,” – said the head of the US Department of Justice.
