Special services are investigating the cause of a severe fire at the warehouse of a large manufacturer of home textiles Belpol (Bel-Pol) near Kursk. At night, the fire covered 2 thousand square meters there. m, more than 40 people participated in its liquidation. Authorities cited an attack by an “enemy drone” as one of the possible causes of the fire. Officials promise to support the enterprise.
Today at 2:29 a.m., the operational shift of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a message about a fire in a warehouse at the enterprise of blankets and pillows “Bel-Pol” in the Kursk region. The administrative building and the storage warehouse caught fire. The enterprise is located in the village of 1st Krasnikovo, 10 km east of the regional center.
According to its own data, the Bel-Pol company is one of the largest manufacturers of textile products for sleeping: blankets and pillows with traditional filling from down and feather-down mixtures, as well as modern woolen, vegetable and synthetic fillers. According to Kartoteka.ru, SP Bel-Pol LLC is 50% owned by director Ivan Znosok, and the rest is distributed between Elena, Elizaveta, Polina and Serafim Kurulenko. The company’s revenue in 2022 exceeded 718 million rubles, the loss reached 5 million rubles.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the fire was localized at 3:36 a.m. on an area of 2,000 square meters. m. Open burning was eliminated an hour later – at 4:39. There were no casualties due to the fire. More than 40 people and 10 pieces of equipment took part in the elimination of the fire.
Specialists together with representatives of the company establish the cause of the fire. According to the governor of the Kursk region Roman Starovoit, the special services are checking the version of a possible attack by an enemy drone.
Judging by the videos from social networks, the fire was preceded by an explosion with a bright flash, and the device could catch on a communication tower located on the territory of the enterprise.
“I myself use the products of the Bel-Pol company, I am very pleased with the quality. We will definitely provide the enterprise with all the necessary support,” the head of the region wrote in Telegram. “I instructed my colleagues to work out the issue with the leadership of Bel-Pol. It is important to promptly conduct an examination, assess the damage and include the enterprise in a special register.” It was not possible to quickly get a comment from Kommersant: the telephones of the Bel-Pol office were turned off.
