Baza: A member of the Foreign Ministry delegation infected with cholera could have been in contact with Lavrov
Currently, the Foreign Minister is in New York at the UN General Assembly.
Cholera was discovered in a member of the Russian delegation on September 13, two days after returning from New Delhi. The infected man was sent to an infectious diseases hospital, and all passengers flying with him were sent to quarantine. Some of them—these were journalists from the Foreign Ministry pool—were sent to forced hospitalization.
According to Baza’s source, Minister Sergei Lavrov and Foreign Ministry spokesman Maria Zakharova were flying on a different plane, but it is possible that they had contact with the sick person during the G-20 summit. Lavrov is currently in New York at the UN General Assembly. The minister is expected to hold about 20 bilateral meetings there, including with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
When asked by “Base” about Lavrov’s possible contact with a cholera patient, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommended contacting medical institutions and authorized authorities.
