According to some information, the company will produce a “lightweight” version of the car, which will be devoid of ABS, airbags, ERA-GLONASS and other systems with scarce components
AvtoVAZ intends to resume production of Lada Granta in the near future. This information is provided by Interfax with reference to the chairman of the primary trade union organization of the enterprise, Sergei Zaitsev.
According to Zaitsev, cars will begin to be manufactured from June 6. The version will depend on the availability of components.
According to an informed source of the agency, it is planned to assemble a special version of Lada Granta. He did not provide more precise information.
A number of media write that the “lightweight” version may be deprived of ABS, airbags, ERA-GLONASS and other systems with scarce components.
The press service of AvtoVAZ refused to give detailed comments on the configuration of the cars that will be assembled. They only noted that from June 6 to September 4, the plant will work in a four-day mode.
Forty cars at AvtoVAZ were supposed to start earlier, but an unforeseen circumstance prevented this. The company entered into an agreement on the supply of components necessary for the production from China, but the lockdown, which is currently in force in this country, prevented them from delivering them to Russia on time.
Earlier, Avtovaz announced that it was going to idle from May 16 to May 20 due to the lack of components. Prior to this, downtime at the enterprise was introduced several times, including from May 11 to 13 and from May 4 to 6. Starting June 6, Avtovaz will switch to a four-day working week due to the lack of electronic components.
