Born in East Germany where his parents worked at the Soviet-German uranium enterprise, he graduated from the faculty of International Journalism MGIMO in 1974. After that, he worked at the USSR Ministry of Foreign Trade, then at the Institute for Scientific Information on Social Sciences. In 1985, he became Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Novoye Vremya magazine.
KURGINYAN Sergey Yervandovich (b. 1949) graduated from the Moscow Geological Prospecting Institute with a degree in geophysics in 1972. In 1974 – 1980, he was a researcher at the Institute of Oceanology, Academy of Sciences of the USSR, in 1980 – 1986, he was a Senior Researcher at the Moscow Geological Prospecting Institute. DOBRODEEV Oleg Borisovich (b. 1959 in Moscow) is a Russian media manager, CEO of the government-owned All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK).
