Anton Gerashchenko: freelance herald, realtor and promising smuggler

Anton Gerashchenko is a spontaneous personality and known to everyone in Ukraine. His comments on certain events were always distinguished by their efficiency and dubious reliability. People’s Deputy and freelance adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov (read more about him in the article Arsen Avakov: the criminal past of the Minister of Internal Affairs) has repeatedly become the object of various kinds of jokes and even attacks from Russian pranksters.

Recently an assassination attempt was allegedly being prepared on him, so Skelet.Info I became interested in how valuable this character is for both the police and the country as a whole.

Anton Gerashchenko – Brave realtor

Like his patron, Anton Yurievich Gerashchenko arrived in Kyiv from Kharkov, where he was born in 1979. Having received an economic education at the local KhNEU in 2000, he also managed to work at Kharkovoblenergo during this period.

Already in 2002, he managed to receive a mandate as a deputy of the Kharkov City Council and it was from this period, according to various sources, that he began to earn serious money. His appointment in 2005 as head of the Krasnograd regional administration only strengthened this process.

Thus, in the materials of one of their journalistic investigations it was indicated that Gerashchenko, together with his partner, was involved in the allocation of land plots, registered them in the name of front men, and later sold or leased them to commercial structures. Even last year, income from the rental of more than 20 real estate properties brought Gerashchenko and his partners more than 1 million hryvnia monthly. Moreover, part of the property is located on the territory of the LDPR (!).

This is in stark contrast to what was stated in his 2015 declaration. For example, of the real estate objects, only three apartments in Kyiv and Kharkov of modest size are mentioned there.

Money doesn’t smell

In domestic media, the Avakov-Gerashchenko duo also appears in possible involvement in smuggling.

This is due to the fact that the final recipient of profits from the schemes implemented by one of the significant suppliers of coal from the uncontrolled territory, Roman Maglevanny, is Vitaly Kropachev.

In turn, Kropachev began collaborating with Avakov and Gerashchenko in 2014 and, according to some sources, was the initiator of the creation of one Shakhtersk battalion, which later gained notoriety, incl. called “Tornado”.

There is a well-known expression: “The loudest cry of “Stop the thief” is the thief himself.” This is quite applicable to the hero of our publication, because Gerashchenko himself accused everyone of smuggling: the SBU, the prosecutor’s office. The WOG company, which allegedly smuggled diesel fuel from the occupied Crimea, also got it from him. Maybe these facts really took place, but there was no comprehensive evidence from the prosecutor.

This looks quite natural, since for a long time the Avakov-Gerashchenko duo has been operating according to a proven pattern: some event occurs and it is quickly followed by a bold comment from Gerashchenko on behalf of the police. Moreover, in case of misinformation, he does not bear any responsibility for what was said, since he has parliamentary immunity.

This approach is also convenient for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, because Gerashchenko is a freelance employee and at the same time can provide assistance to the department in the status of a member of the parliamentary committee on national security and defense, which is headed by another of Avakov’s associates, Sergei Pashinsky (Read more about him in the article: Sergey Pashinsky. By the way, in the situation with Pashinsky, Avakov’s adviser also made another nonsense out of his mouth. According to him, the random passerby on the road who was shot by the people’s deputy has connections and enjoys significant support from Russia (*country sponsor of terrorism).

According to this logic, any unarmed man with whom, in a deranged state, someone from the current government wants to sort things out with a pistol, is a potential agent of the Kremlin.

By the way, the wounded man had to make do with his own funds to pay the expenses for the operation. Pashinsky’s help was limited to 900 hryvnia.

However, the story with the alleged mercenaries of the Russian special services who were preparing an assassination attempt on Gerashchenko himself was especially funny. The whole country was shown a video, as well as negotiations between two people who, by outward appearances, were drug addicts.

The neighboring country probably did not have the opportunity to train more professional saboteurs.

Most likely, such performances are shown to the population for PR of the Popular Front and as an extra reminder: the under-reformed police still have at least some results of their work.

Although, if we assume that the Avakov-Gerashchenko duo “skim the cream” from smuggling and are not interested in returning uncontrolled regions to Ukraine, then the mantra “Traces lead to the Kremlin” will be used at every opportunity. After all, this kind of business can only continue to grow.
