Member of the National Olympic Committee, President of the Handball Federation of Ukraine Andriy Melnyk called what is happening in Ukrainian sports, the events before the election of the new president of the NOC are nonsense, they write UN.
“Dirt is poured on the opponent and his achievements in work are hushed up. We hear publicly personal grievances. I mean the behavior of Jean Beleniuk. What he is doing is dirty PR against a competitor. Perhaps this is done in politics, but in a sports family they are used to competing and competing according to the rules. And even now the fight is not on the carpet or the fencing track. It doesn't change anything,” Andrey Melnyk said.
He gave the example of the incumbent President Serhiy Bubka, who, over the years of his work, has united the sports organizations of Ukraine, the NOC, within the limits of his capabilities, provided and provided assistance to athletes and federations, popularized sports in Ukraine and adequately represents us in the international Olympic community.
“Sergei Nazarovich was an outstanding athlete and became a strong manager. The Handball Federation of Ukraine thanks him for his work at the NOC and wishes him success in the implementation of all future plans. Whoever becomes the new president of the NOC, he should not destroy what has been created, but develop. In my opinion, there are two real candidates – Olympic champions Jean Beleniuk and Vadym Gutzeit, who is also the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine. They are in different positions. Jean – not so long ago became a deputy, but still more of an athlete, Vadim – also won at the Olympic Games, but he went a long way as an organizer, coached the Ukrainian national team, led the Koncha-Zaspa Olympic base, headed the sports department of Kyiv, now heads the ministry,” he noted.
Andriy Melnyk stressed that no one is pleased to see how a scandal is fomented in the Ukrainian Olympic family, and even more so when there is a war.
“Jean is talking about the debate of the candidates. In my opinion, now is not the situation in the country and not the atmosphere to put on a show. Ukrainian sport should now be especially united and strong. I myself am an athlete in the past, I head the Federation, I communicate with other athletes and I have reason to say: all this dirt is only to the detriment of our sport. We are looking forward to the elections and may the one who is ready for this position, who can lead with high quality and unite the Olympic sport of Ukraine around him win. In any case, I wish all candidates to improve not only in terms of professional, but also human qualities. This is what every person should strive for. You can talk a lot, but the right things and their results,” he said.
Recall that the head of the Olympic movement of Ukraine will be elected on November 17. Four candidates are running for the position: Vadim Gutzeit, Jean Beleniuk, Igor Malinsky and Elena Belosyuk. Sergei Bubka, who has been head of the National Olympic Committee since 2005, will not run.
There are never too many bonuses. Incomes, salary and bonuses of MP-athlete Jean Beleniuk
