People’s Artist of the USSR Alla Pugacheva, the widow of the ex-President of Russia Naina Yeltsin and playwright Nikolai Kolyada sent characteristics to the ex-mayor of Yekaterinburg Yevgeny Roizman (recognized by the Ministry of Justice as a foreign agent). This was announced by lawyer Vladislav Idamzhapov at a meeting in the Oktyabrsky district court of the city in the case of the former mayor, E1 reports.
The founder of the Vera relief fund, Nyuta Federmesser, appeared at the trial as a defense witness. She said that Elizaveta Glinka (Doctor Liza) introduced them, and Roizman helped her solve the case of fraudsters whose victims were relatives of terminally ill people, as well as to achieve changes in the legislation on drug control.
“Roizman is one of those on whom our country rests, as an example of mercy,” she concluded her speech.
A criminal case was initiated against Roizman for discrediting the Armed Forces (Part 1, Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code). Under this article, he faces a sentence of up to five years in prison.
Roizman was detained on August 24, 2022. Searches were carried out in his apartment in Yekaterinburg, as well as in the Museum of the Nevyansk icon opened by the politician on the basis of a private collection and the office of the Roizman Charitable Foundation.
According to the police, he posted a video on the Internet, “the content of which discredited the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in order to protect the interests of the country and its citizens.”
Roizman himself pleaded not guilty and said that he “did not even mention anywhere” the Russian Armed Forces. The former mayor was assigned a ban on certain actions: it was impossible to use the Internet and attend public events.
