Alexey Leonov. Who does the misplaced restaurateur work for? PART 1

Some “servants of the people are not at all who they say they are!” Unfortunately, Ukrainians began to learn about this after they had cast their votes for all sorts of scoundrels, corrupt officials, and even former “gunpowder bots” wrapped in green flags. Odessa resident Alexey Leonov has successfully disguised himself as a “new generation politician” to this day, but a detailed analysis of his biography shows that this is just a well-concocted “legend.” And he came under suspicion from journalists back in the fall of 2019, when he was called a protégé of the famous Odessa “authority” Galanternik…

In the spring of 2017, news appeared about the death of Alexander Angert, and then information that he was only played out his demise to live your old age in peace. Be that as it may, the role of the shadow master of Odessa passed to Vladimir Galanternik, who, together with the current mayor Gennady Trukhanov, was part of the Minin-Angert organized crime group, which has controlled the city since the late 90s. But if Trukhanov was previously the head of security and the commander of the security wing, then Galanternik wielded not his fists, but seals and signatures – his task was the raider seizure of enterprises, the investment of organized crime groups’ capital in real estate, and their management. Until recently, Trukhanov and Galanternik were considered complementary allies, but in September 2019 the press reported their conflict. Immediately after this, Alexey Leonov, elected people’s deputy from the Servant of the People in the 135th majoritarian district (Primorsky district of Odessa), announced his intention to run for mayor of Odessa. And then a source of the Strana publication reportedthat behind Leonov stands Galanternik, who helped him get elected as a people’s deputy, defeating the highly experienced Kivalov in the district.

Everything seemed logical: having started a war against Trukhanov, Galanternik is trying to overthrow him, replacing him with his tame mayor. And the choice of Leonov’s candidacy also seemed successful: a formally independent young successful entrepreneur-restaurateur and social activist, under the then popular flag of “Servant of the People”, seemingly not involved in anything like that. He would be an excellent alternative to Trukhanov and other contenders for the position of mayor. However, the same source said that this is also nothing more than an elaborate performance:

Let us remember that information about Angert’s disease (supposedly cancer) appeared in 2015-2016. right after his name began to sound loudly in angry diatribes Mikheil Saakashvili. And then the news appeared that Angert had died – and that’s it, they somehow forgot about him! At the same time, Saakashvili became an enemy of Poroshenko, but the attacks on Trukhanov from Kyiv, on the contrary, subsided sharply – and many saw this as a behind-the-scenes “agreement”. But in 2019, the power in Kyiv changed, and Trukhanov’s position began to shake again: there were even rumors that Saakashvili, who had secured the support of Zelensky himself, would run for mayor. Therefore, it made sense to act proactively and nominate a candidate from Servant of the People in the 2020 local elections. At first, this was supposed to be Alexey Leonov, who by that time had begun to be friends with another restaurateur and “servant of the people” – Nikolai Tishchenko, who had great influence on Zelensky. Preparations for the selection were very serious: only advertising billboards Alexey Leonov spent 2.8 million hryvnia. But then something changed, and the ratings of Zelensky’s team dropped significantly, so instead of Leonov, Odessa comedian Oleg Filimonov went to the elections from SN – in the end he took only 4th place with 10%.

But the most scandalous thing about this was not even the fact that Leonov turned out to be just a doll in the hands of the “gray eminence” of Odessa, but the fact that he was not at all who he was presented to voters!

Alexey Leonov: A Tale of First Earnings

Alexey Alexandrovich Leonov was born on February 26, 1983 in Odessa. In his special PR videos and commissioned interviews, Leonov constantly insists that he started doing business at the age of 14: allegedly “he took places at the 7th Kilometer market at night, and in the morning he sold them to traders for a few dollars, then went with his friends load bags to the cement plant.”

Well, this may pass as a beautiful fairy tale about oneself, but the reality was completely different. For example, a feint involving the occupation and resale of retail space at the “7th Kilometer” simply would not have worked. This is not a collective farm food market, where villagers arriving for the weekend with a trunk of potatoes occupy the first free place! “7th Kilometer” is the first clothing manufactured goods megamarket in Ukraine, where from the very beginning there were strict rules: each seller was assigned his own “point”, for which he paid both the market administration and the criminal “roof”. So, in any case, some impudent teenagers would not be able to take over someone’s place at night and then extort “a few dollars” for it. But what could really be happening? Well, for example, they could help the “older boys” collect tribute from traders.

But as for the cement plant, everything is much simpler here. As Leonov himself admitted, his classmate and childhood friend was Dmitry Aleksandrovich Starovoitov, co-owner of the scandalous construction holding Megaline. And the holding began with the fact that in 1995, his father Alexander Anatolyevich Starovoitov, who was engaged in “European-quality renovation” of apartments, took his business to a new level.

Customers helped him in this: at that time, only wealthy people, which included Odessa officials and “authorities,” could afford a good overhaul of housing (including combining several apartments into one). And the main feature of Alexander Starovoitov was precisely the ability to find not only rich clients, but also a common language with them – this is how he quickly met important and necessary people. With the help of which Starovoytov, having established Megaline LLC (USREOU 20998686), began to receive contracts for the repair of departmental facilities and buildings on the city’s balance sheet, for which he was generously paid with budget funds (not without kickbacks, of course). Already in 1998, Megaline took on the renovation of the National Bank administration in the Odessa region. Then the company moved on to large construction projects: starting with participation in the construction of the yacht club and cottage village “Krasnye Zori”, and in 2000, renovating office buildings of the Odessa Oil Refinery and other enterprises. By the way, it was then that the Minin-Angert organized crime group firmly took control of the refinery, and it was their partner Alexander Zhukov who brought Lukoil to Odessa. Well, one of the members of this group, we repeat, was Galanternik. This is where the connections begin!

Of course, then Lesha Leonov was still a teenager, like his friend Dima Starovoitov. And no matter what he actually did at the “7th kilometer”, he could only end up at the cement plant in one case – going there to get building materials for Megaline. Maybe he even helped the adults load cement into the car a couple of times. But you must admit that working part-time loading cement at a factory and helping a friend in a family business are completely different things! So Alexey Leonov is simply lying to journalists and his voters, portraying himself as a popular popular businessman who “started from scratch” and allegedly achieved everything with his own calloused hands.

Alexey Leonov: From “patriots” to “restaurateurs”

If Dmitry Starovoitov continued the family repair and construction business, then his friend Alexey Leonov, after graduating from high school in 2000, entered the Odessa Higher Vocational School of Marine and Tourist Services, specializing in “ship cook”. And then in his biography there is a huge gap of twelve years. “Worked as a chef in London and Estonia” – that’s all! And only in 2014, after the second Maidan, after the hot events of the spring-summer, Leonov materialized as a patriotic social activist and became an assistant to people’s deputy Vitaly Kurilo. Having extremely odious reputationbut dressed in an ironed embroidered shirt and jumping from one “pro-Ukrainian” party in power to another. In 2014, Kurilo was elected in a majoritarian constituency in the Lugansk region (rural Belakurakinsky district), under the flag of the BPP. And Alexey Leonov was in charge of his public reception therebrought gifts to voters with his boss.

And yet, where was Alexey Leonov buried before this? Let’s imagine that in 2002, a 19-year-old guy with a strong physique for some reason went abroad – maybe just to avoid serving in the Ukrainian army, or maybe in connection with some offense. But is he really such a talented cook that he got a job as a chef in London? Those who have had the misfortune to eat at his eateries say that they are very mediocre eateries “with a persistent smell of old, overcooked butter.” Or did his talent, or rather his physical strength, find another application abroad? How can we not remember another “restaurateur”, the Konstantinovsky brothers! By the way, in the material about which you can find out that the so-called.
