Odious. Scandalous. Rich.
Ukrainian politics over the 25 years of independence has given us a lot of odious politicians. They are remembered for scandals, bizarre actions, illogical actions and simply provocative antics, writes Ivan Nechupara, Facenews.
One of these people has proven himself to be ex-regional and now people’s deputy from the “Will of the People” group Alexander Onishchenko. The people’s representative, who missed almost half of the plenary sessions of the Verkhovna Rada, recalled his person with the “billion hryvnia gas case” when NABU detectives conducted searches in the deputy’s office. Judging by Onishchenko’s biography, this is not the first time he has had problems with the law.
His track record includes many interesting deeds. For example, Walid Arfush and Alexander Onishchenko (Kadyrov) supplied prostitutes to Gaddafi’s son. The wife of Seifal Islam, the beloved son of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi, claims: for the orgies of Gaddafi the younger, his Kyiv friends supplied participants in all-Ukrainian beauty contests, which the same criminal Seif (who is wanted) sponsored. In principle, when Onishchenko collected substantial capital, he became interested in organizing beauty contests. Those in the know call them castings for VIP prostitution. “Managing beauty” on the scale of an entire country in any state brings the people behind it many informal, useful connections at the very top. This allows the “patrons of girls” to resolve their personal business issues, bypassing bureaucratic obstacles. And often possess secret information not only of an intimate nature.
In addition, in the dashing 90s, Alexander Radzhabovich was a “foreman” in the criminal group of the authority “Kisel” under the nickname “Tatar”. If the Scorpio document is real, then Onishchenko-Kadyrov even received three years probation. In 1993, Onishchenko went into the gas business. According to him, he was able to provide barter supplies of food in exchange for Central Asian gas from Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. But here a snag arises, because the palm in this aspect was recognized by Firtash and Bakai. True, Alexander Onishchenko is already considered Dmitry Firtash’s man.
Kyiv football fans remember the deputy from the scandalous story with the Arsenal-Kyiv football club. Onishchenko bought the team from Vadim Rabinovich, but instead of paying off the team’s debt, he ruined it within six months.
The personal life of Alexander Radzhabovich would be more suitable for discussion in the tabloids, but in this aspect it would be difficult not to mention it. Being married, Alexander Onishchenko tried to “hit” the famous gymnast Anna Bessonova. To do this, he paved the way for her brother Alexander into politics. The $7 million investment did not justify itself, since the Ministry of Ecology had a difficult time working for a lawyer with a Harvard diploma.

And Onishchenko’s son hardly pleased his father when a year ago he was expelled from the elite gymnasium “Consul” No. 86 in Pechersk for, together with a friend, forcing a first-grader to take off his pants and urinate. For fun, the teenagers filmed the whole thing. Although the people’s deputy himself, like a real father, stood up for his son.
“During the six years my son studied at this school there were no problems. And then a fight happened. This happens. But I was called to school, although my son does not live with me. And they staged a demonstrative scandal. But I didn’t want to delve into his essence, I don’t need this dirt, and I took the documents from the school and transferred him to another (at school they say, presumably, abroad). But I am sure that my son could not have done such a thing,” Onishchenko told Vesti.
But let’s return to Alexander Radzhabovich. In June 2015, he made a loud statement that businessmen were chipping in for Yatsenyuk’s election campaign.
“Why is Yatsenyuk so nervous? When there were elections to the Verkhovna Rada in the fall of 2014, Yatsenyuk raised his entire rating due to the fact that he collected sponsorship money from businessmen like me. We all chipped in and gave money to his election campaign,” Onishchenko said.
This statement has two interesting facets. On the one hand, this fact confirms Arseniy Petrovich’s close ties with Ukrainian oligarchs, but on the other: why would Onishchenko give money for the election of a direct competitor? Although, you can find the answer here too. The fact is that Andrei Derkach, the leader of the Will of the People party, is “friends” with the Vidrodzhennya party, of which Onishchenko is a member. And Derkach is a close friend of Petro Poroshenko. Big issues are always resolved behind the scenes.

The overall budget of Yatsenyuk’s election campaign, however, did not prevent Onishchenko from quarreling with Tatyana Chernovol. An equally odious and scandalous representative of the Popular Front in June 2015 went to arrange a “debriefing” in the office of the gas production company Plast, which belongs to Onishchenko. The businessman himself considered this an action planned by Yatsenyuk and Pashinsky, and called Chernovol “a professional brawler with a certificate.” Alexander Onishchenko rejected all accusations of non-payment of rent and taxes, calling it a provocation.
However, already in January 2016, Onishchenko again had problems with the law. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau suspected the Will of the People deputy of causing losses to the state in the amount of 500 million hryvnia. As a result, the detective invited the suspect and he came for questioning, but after hearing the essence of the accusation, he went to an urgent meeting of parliament and was gone.
“After the NABU detective, in the manner prescribed by law, explained to him (Onishchenko) the grounds for the summons, the criminal proceedings in which he was summoned to testify, the procedure for interrogation, the procedural rights and obligations of a witness and criminal liability, Onishchenko stated that Due to the parliamentary meeting, he does not have time to testify. After which he left the premises on his own,” a NABU employee told Ukrainian News.
On December 4 last year, NABU officers began criminal proceedings in which Alexander Onishchenko appears. This was published in the unified register of court decisions (criminal proceedings number – 52015000000000002). From the documents it became known that the case concerns the infliction of losses to the state in the amount of over 500 million hryvnia during the production of natural gas in 2014-2015 by companies associated with Onishchenko under agreements on joint activities with the state company Ukrgasvydobuvannya. We are talking about PrJSC “Plast”, LLC “Nadra Geocenter”, LLC “Firm Has”, LLC “Natural Resources +” (all – Kiev region), LLC “Karpatnadrainvest” (Kharkiv region). Thus, there is a possibility that Tatyana Chernovol has the facts, but the odious woman could not correctly present them to the public.

The situation with escaping from interrogation turned out to be bad for Alexander Onishchenko. On March 16 of this year, NABU conducted a search in the deputy’s office.
“The basis for the searches was a corresponding court order. The searches were carried out as part of a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings into abuse of official position in the sale of natural gas produced as part of a joint activity with PJSC Ukrgasvydobuvannya. According to information entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations, gas was sold at prices below market prices, as a result of which significant harm was caused to state interests. According to NABU detectives, we are talking about an amount of over 1 billion UAH,” read the official version in the NABU press release.
According to unconfirmed reports, a sign was found in one of the gas company offices stating that Onishchenko’s reception office is located in this place. The problem is that the reception office at this address is not registered.
Already in April of this year, Onishchenko noisily announced his birthday. The many guest stars are unlikely to interest the reader. But at a party in a prestigious Italian club, former people’s deputy Igor Krivetsky appeared (Read more about him in the article Igor Krivetsky: criminal sponsors of Svoboda), whom the media call a sponsor of the VO “Svoboda” and a crime boss nicknamed “Pups”.
Despite conflicts with NABU and noisy parties, Alexander Onishchenko is not getting poorer. On the contrary, in his last tax return he reported a profit of UAH 33,155,370 million and placed UAH 157,338,774 in bank accounts abroad in 2015. 3,018,456 hryvnia of Onishchenko’s income were dividends, 66,326 hryvnia – salary, 70,588 hryvnia – income from the transfer of property for rent and 30 million hryvnia – income from the alienation of property (the declaration does not include two land plots and a residential building, which were declared in 2014 year). What’s interesting is that last year Onishchenko’s income was 7.3 million. It turns out that the politician enriched himself by UAH 26 million over the year. Alexander Onishchenko is one of the hundred richest people in Ukraine according to Forbes for 2015. At his invitation, actresses Olga Kurylenko and Paris Hilton, actors Jean-Claude Van Damme, Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren came to the country.
The difficult period for former associates of Viktor Yanukovych seems to be coming to an end. Interesting and odious politicians like Onishchenko, despite all lustrations, continue to make capital despite the actions of the anti-corruption bureau.
