Natalia Degtyareva should be fired from the NBU

After the revelation of facts that may indicate that the head of the department of banking supervision of the NBU, Natalya Degtyareva, works in the interests of the bookmaker 1xBet, which finances the Russian army, the official should be fired, they write UN.

About it declared blogger, journalist and former editor-in-chief of “Economic Pravda” Sergey Lyamets on the social network.

“I observe the scandal around the head of banking supervision of the NBU. As for Natalia Degtyareva, we learned about a small episode. She turned a blind eye to the work in Ukraine of the Russian bookmaker 1xBet, funding Russian army. This fact is a shot to kill, after which they rarely take off. Degtyareva crossed an invisible limit when she refused to quietly leave such a position“, – the blogger notes.

According to him, the 1xBet story is just one of the high-profile scandals associated with Natalia Degtyareva.

“I am sure that the story with 1xBet is far from everything. Where can you look for a violation? The first is the current violations of regulations by banks. It is a well-known fact that after the change of leadership of the NBU, an audit was carried out at Ukrgasbank. Based on its results, either 2000 or 3000 violations were found. Of course, this check was connected with the Kirill Shevchenko case, and to some extent the task was to find as many clues as possible. But this figure indicates the unsatisfactory work of supervision.”, continues the ex-chief editor of Economic Truth.

Sergei Lyamets believes that if you delve into the work of the state-owned PrivatBank or Ukreximbank, there may be no less violations.

“For example, Ukreximbank was chronically undercapitalized and needed temporary administration. But there was no news about sanctions against the state bank. The same can be said about PrivatBank. It has a gigantic currency position violation, for which other banks receive huge fines. The second point is the huge amount of bad debts of banks that arose because of the war of the war. According to the subjective assessments of my interlocutors, about 50% of all loans became problematic. But I am more than sure that the supervisor turned a blind eye to the true titanic volumes of “bad loans”.“, – explains the journalist.

As the blogger notes, the third point is categories such as KYC, compliance, financial monitoring, insider lending, currency control, corporate governance, etc.

“These are very subjective categories that do not have clear “right” and “wrong”. What bankers call legal may be recognized by banking supervision as a violation. For example, should the client be allowed to pay in favor of a foreign counterparty? Should the risk assessment system be considered effective? These are specific problems that both the bank and the regulator see. But you can punish strongly, you can symbolically, or you can not notice at all. There are always many such questions. If you don’t believe me, listen to Rozhkova’s tapes“, – the author of the post notes.

The journalist urged those who have information about the violation of banking supervision under the leadership of Degtyareva to contact him.

“As for 1xbet and their support for the Russian army, if the SBU confirms these facts, then during martial law, the actions of Mrs. Degtyareva will look daring and may cost her not only her position. If you have information about how banking supervision under her leadership lobbied for Russian interests, please write in private.”, concludes Sergey Lyamets.
