Pavel Demchin
Petro Poroshenko appointed Pavel Demchin as the first deputy chairman of the SBU and head of the State Administration for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime. The latter, as you know, is an associate of Poroshenko’s business partner, People’s Deputy Igor Kononenko (For more details, read: Igor Kononenko. The President’s Army Buddy).
The fact that the new first deputy chairman of the SBU is an acquaintance of Kononenko was repeatedly confirmed for various publications by the former head of Main Directorate “K” Viktor Trepak:
“Kononenko and Demchin know each other well and communicate constantly.”
Odessa Governor Mikheil Saakashvili also described the “acquaintance” between Kononenko and Demchin: “everyone knows what they are doing – this is an ordinary racketeering. And all this happens under Demchin’s signature. The SBU department, which fights corruption, directly deals with corruption,” the ex-president of Georgia emphasized.
Edition Our penniesi writes that in the fall of 2015, Pavel Demchin initiated tightening of control over the activities of nut exporters. After which his department was called the “nut mafia” by the SBU.
