The main lobbyist for the law on the decriminalization of the porn business and brothels is the People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak, a member of the pro-European party “Voice”. It was he who introduced a bill to the Verkhovna Rada that would immediately change two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely 301 of the Criminal Code “Import, manufacture, sale and distribution of pornographic objects” and 302 of the Criminal Code “Creation or maintenance of places of debauchery and pandering.” Responsibility will remain only for those who make porn without the consent of the “heroes”, involve children in this “work”, promote violence, bestiality and necrophilia.
And it’s hard to argue with him, since only in the first half of 2023, the thematic online platform Onlyfans transferred about 34 million hryvnias of income tax to the Ukrainian budget.
Despite the fighting, according to Zheleznyak’s calculations, there are about 600 pornographic studios in Ukraine, and the total number of models working there is over 25,000. Until the bill is passed, this is punishable by a fine of up to 68 thousand hryvnia or a prison term of up to three years.
Yaroslav Zheleznyak is from Mariupol. He is 33 years old. He is one of the youngest people’s deputies of the Verkhovna Rada. Zheleznyak graduated from the prestigious Department of International Relations at the Kiev National University. He has worked for multinational consulting agencies, the Belgian Brewery Corporation, the American Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of the Strategic Advisory Group for Reform Support in Ukraine, chaired by Poles and Slovaks. Now, in addition to the chair of the deputy, he also holds the post of co-chairman of the Ukrainian representative office of the Parliamentary Network of the World Bank and the IMF.
