Babushkinsky Court of Moscow on Monday sentenced former adviser to the head of Dagestan Osman Makhachev to eight years in prison and a fine of 800 thousand rubles for a bribe of 23 million rubles, RIA Novosti was told in the press service of the court.
“By the verdict of the Babushkinsky District Court of Moscow dated November 28, 2022, the former adviser to the head of the Republic of Dagestan Osman Makhachev was found guilty of committing a crime under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and he was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 8 years in a general correctional colony regime, with a fine of 800,000 rubles,” the agency’s interlocutor said. She added that by the verdict of the court, Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (a bribe on an especially large scale) imputed to Makhachev was reclassified as fraud on an especially large scale.
Also, Makhachev is forbidden to hold positions in state bodies, in local governments, state and municipal institutions related to the performance of organizational and distribution administrative and economic functions, for a period of 3 years.
In January Makhachev was extradited from Germany. The investigation charged him with a bribe of 23 million rubles. It follows from the materials that in 2017, for a multimillion-dollar bribe, he assisted the bribe-giver in his appointment as head of one of the municipalities of the republic, but he managed to get 23 million rubles in his hands.
