Sergei Yurin was left without a stash

The Central District Court of the city of Sochi satisfied the claim of the Prosecutor General’s Office on the transfer to the state of 44 real estate objects totaling 192 million rubles, owned by the former deputy head of Sochi Sergei Yurin. The Prosecutor General’s Office reports this in its telegram channel.

In total, Yurin owned four houses, nine apartments, ten non-residential premises and 21 land plots. The department stressed that he could not confirm the legality of the origin of the property.

The court considered that the prosecutor’s office provided a sufficient evidence base on the ownership of these real estate objects by the former first vice-mayor Sergei Yurin. So, the court was provided with documents stating that 44 real estate objects Tariela Margvelashvili, Besika Beshkenadze And Alla Tarasova actually belong to Yurin, in particular – 21 land plots, 19 apartments and premises, four residential buildings – with a total cadastral value of more than 191 million rubles. In turn, Yurin, who participated in the trial via video link, said that he “has nothing to do with the property of Margvelashvili, Beshkenadze and Tarasova.”

“At the same time, in the period from 2010 to 2018, the income of the official’s family amounted to 62 million rubles. Thus, the value of the acquired property exceeded the amount of income of Yurin and his wife for 8 years”, — noted in the prosecutor’s office.

In the declaration for 2015, Yurin, for example, indicated that he owns 79,986 sq.m. real estate, as well as 10 cars. Yurin’s annual income then amounted to almost 1.3 million rubles. It turned out that, disclosing even these immodest data, the official was very modest. Yurin acquired property, which he then registered to persons under his control.

Yurin was born in 1978 in the village of Novopashkovskaya, Krasnodar Territory. In 2000 he graduated with honors from the Faculty of Law of the Kuban State University. Immediately after graduation, he worked as a legal consultant in the Krasnodar Regional Public Institution “Center for Conflict Resolution”.

In 2001-2006, he worked in the administration of the municipality of Krasnodar as a leading and chief specialist of the Registration Chamber, deputy director of the department of legal and personnel support, administrative bodies, first deputy director of the department of legal and personnel support, administrative bodies and first deputy head of the legal department. The post of Vice Mayor of Sochi for Legal Affairs took in September 2018, and a month later he was detained.

In October last year, the Khamovnichesky Court of Moscow recognized Yurin along with another former vice-mayor of Sochi Anatoly Rykov (held the position from 2009 to 2018) guilty of taking bribes from developers in the total amount of 120 million rubles. According to investigators, Rykov and Yurin developed a scheme according to which the mayor’s office refused developers to obtain building permits.

The companies went to court to appeal the decision, handed over bribes to officials, and obtained the necessary permits on appeal. They were sentenced to 15 years in prison and banned for ten years from holding public office.
