The Uzhgorod RTCC and SP Commission canceled the previously granted deferments from conscription to draft dodgers who took advantage of the “student scheme”.
Law enforcement officers liquidated three more schemes for drug evaders – in Transcarpathia, Kyiv and Cherkassy. The SBU reported this on Tuesday, October 15.
It is indicated that all the organizers of the transactions were detained – the heads of two private institutions of higher education and officials of the Military Medical Commission (MMC).
Thus, the rector and vice-rector of a private university were detained in Transcarpathia. They admitted draft dodgers to bachelor’s degrees in their own and foreign universities without entrance exams.
“The defendants promised such “students” unimpeded registration of deferments. To do this, the leadership of the Transcarpathian university involved an official of the military law enforcement service in illegal activities,” the report says.
The local commission of the Uzhgorod RTCC and SP canceled the previously granted deferments from conscription to 225 draft dodgers who took advantage of this “student scheme”.
In the Kyiv region, the deputy director of a financial college and two of his subordinates were exposed, who “retroactively” registered their clients for graduate school.
“The defendants “accompanied the entry” of draft dodgers into a private research institute as students of a college where they did not actually study. Thus, draft dodgers received the opportunity to defer mobilization and travel abroad. The cost of such “services” was up to 8 thousand US dollars per client, the SBU said.
And in Cherkassy, three representatives of the Military Military Commission were exposed who were selling draft dodgers false conclusions about unfitness for military service due to health reasons.
Currently, all persons involved have been notified of suspicion under the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- abuse of influence (Part 3 of Article 369-2);
- obstruction of the legitimate activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during a special period, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons (part 2 of article 28, part 1 of article 114-1).
The perpetrators face up to 8 years in prison.
Earlier on Tuesday, the media reported that the rector of the East European Slavic University Lyudmila Nesukh was involved in the scheme in Transcarpathia.
Also in Kropyvnytskyi, a scheme for evading mobilization was discovered, organized by employees of the Kyiv Professional College of Business and Analytics of the National Academy of Statistics, Accounting and Audit.
